Small Patio – Big Style!

How to Make the Most of a Small Outdoor Space.

One of the most common questions we’re asked is what to do with a small outdoor space. The good news? You don’t need a large area to create a beautiful, functional oasis.

Start by deciding how you want to use the space. If you enjoy dining outdoors or working on your laptop at a table, opt for a dining-height table and chairs. Bistro-style sets that seat two comfortably are ideal for tight spaces, while slightly larger sets can accommodate up to four people.

Prefer a more relaxed vibe? Create a casual lounge area with two comfortable chairs and a small table in between. It’s the perfect setup for reading, daydreaming, or simply enjoying the view.

When choosing furniture for a petite space, prioritize pieces with a smaller footprint. Look for minimal frames, sling-style seating, or slim-profile cushions. Traditional resin wicker styles often have bulkier frames, so consider using a dining chair from a wicker collection instead of a club chair. It will take up less room while still offering comfort.

Surprisingly, a 10-by-10-foot area can fit a sofa, two club chairs, and a coffee table if the furniture has clean, minimal lines. Aluminum frames or newer Durarope styles are especially space-efficient. Sling-style chairs without cushions are also great space-savers.

Treat your small space with the same care and attention as a larger one. An outdoor rug helps anchor the area and adds texture and comfort underfoot. Layer in lighting and accessories to elevate the overall atmosphere. Don’t forget planters and colorful flowers, which bring life, vibrancy, and a sense of drama, especially in balconies or enclosed patios.
